Thank you for your interest in vision-related research at The University of Manchester.

We are Eurolens Research, a University of Manchester research unit specialising in eye and contact lens research. We require volunteers to take part in our clinical studies, which take place at the University’s Oxford Road Campus (within easy access of Manchester city centre).

  • All studies are approved by an ethics committee and run by an experienced team of researchers and fully qualified optometrists.
  • Volunteers are financially reimbursed for their involvement.
  • Before taking part, you will receive a Participant Information Sheet that provides detailed study information.
  • Relevant COVID-19 safety measures are in place for the protection of our volunteers and staff.
  • On-site parking is available.

Contact lens wearers

To compare the clinical performance of two multifocal contact lens brands.

Inclusion criteria

Volunteers (aged 35 or over) who have successfully worn contact lenses within the last 12 months and who are experiencing reduced ability to focus at close range. Further inclusion criteria apply and these will be checked with you at the next stage of the recruitment process.

What’s involved

Two clinic visits (each approximately 2 hours), wearing two brands of multifocal contact lenses for approximately 25 mins each pair, eye examinations (inlcuding application of a standard optometric dye to your eyes), feeback on the contact lenses.

Reimbursement

If you take part you will receive financial reimbursement.
