Ellie now works as an Influencer Marketing Executive for a PR agency specialising in influencer marketing for a variety of campaigns including: TikTok, Instagram and YouTube. She works on a variety of clients including Dulux, Tequila Rose and Fray Bentos.

Why did you choose to study your course at Manchester?

“I really enjoyed the critical literature side of my degree so wanted to pursue this further at a Masters level.”

Did you always know that you wanted to do the career you’re in? Did your course or time at Manchester help influence this?

“Not really! I’d worked freelance in Marketing whilst at university – but focusing on a Master’s helped me really solidify what I wanted to do post-graduation.”

How did your course set you up for your career path?

“Despite my job being in marketing, a significant portion of my job involves writing or putting together briefs – which my course helped to establish.”

What was the most surprising takeaway from your course that’s helped you in later life?

“I think pursuing any education at a Master’s level helps to enhance basic academic skills and vocabulary which is an asset in any professional setting. Working with a variety of clients, this set up has helped enhance my ability to communicate and put together briefs.”

What advice would you give to a student looking to start your course and/or join the University?

“Pursue something you love! Studying any course at postgraduate level is difficult but if you love the subject, it makes it so much easier and worth the graft.”
