Hello, I’m Massimiliano, and before joining the MSc in Operations, Project and Supply Chain Management at The University of Manchester, I completed a degree in Economics and Management at LUISS Guido Carli in Rome, Italy. While this provided me with a strong general business foundation, I wanted to pursue a more specialised and sector-focused academic path aligned with my growing interest in operations and supply chain management.

I chose the University of Manchester primarily for its strong global reputation and subject ranking, alongside its distinctive programme structure. What particularly stood out was the balance between technical supply chain content and broader business and managerial perspectives, which differentiated it from similar programmes elsewhere.

One of the most memorable aspects of the MSc OPSCM was the extraordinary diversity of the cohort. The variety of nationalities, ages and—most importantly—professional backgrounds created a truly enriching learning environment. The programme was also highly practical, combining theory with simulations, real business cases and insights from industry guest speakers. Beyond the classroom, the opportunity to build a strong professional network across courses and disciplines was an invaluable part of the experience.

I am currently working as a Shift Manager at Amazon Italy, a role I secured even before officially graduating. The programme equipped me with a clear and realistic understanding of what operations management entails, providing a solid foundation on which to build my career. Studying at a prestigious institution like The University of Manchester also played an important role in supporting my transition into a highly competitive organisation such as Amazon.

My advice to prospective students is to fully embrace their time at Manchester—make the most of the academic, professional and personal development opportunities the University offers, as they can make a real difference to your future career.
