Informed choice and deaf children

This project ran from 2005-2007. At that time in England, Newborn Hearing Screening was being rolled out and the project was linked. It aimed to support parents to make informed choices for their deaf children and to support professionals to present fair and unbiased information of parental options, service availability and rights.

The project jointly funded by the DfES (Department for Education and Skills) and NDCS. The range of publications include a conceptual, evidence-based literature review, a guide for professionals in working in an informed choice way, a guide for parents about informed choice and how to ensure their preferences are met and a methodology piece about what was behind the research team’s approach.
