External Evaluation of the NDCS Parenting Project

The NDCS developed and trialled a new parenting curriculum, which consists of information about parenting deaf children (examples of issues covered included: daily communication; behaviour management; and dealing with feelings). The evaluation project on the pilot delivery of the parenting curriculum was carried out by our team, SORD, at the University of Manchester.

The aims of evaluation were to explore the effectiveness of the parenting curriculum and its delivery, from the perspectives of both the participating parents and the workshop facilitators; to identify its strengths and how it could be improved; to evaluate the impact of the curriculum and course on parenting activity; and to identify how feasible it would be to roll out the curriculum on a national basis.
