Online data capture in BSL

It concerns specifically whether and why there might be a case for the provision of a specialist residential care facility as an available option for this population. This project involves demonstration of two NIHR Doctoral Research funded projects (Belk, 2010; and Rogers, 2010) on remote visual language data capture.

The objectives were:

  • to share the software solutions and technological specifications for the use of secure remote capture applications with others researching in signed languages; and
  • to investigate the application of secure, remote data capture in BSL to health service-related contexts in order to extend the current use of video telephony into applications that involve asynchronous stored data clips in signed languages.
