Translating the Deaf self

Translating the Deaf Self project is a scoping study, funded by the Arts & Humanities Research Council (AHRC).

In collaboration with Professor Jemina Napier and her team at Heriot-Watt University, the work is focused on the cultural, emotional and social impact of translation on Deaf people who work with sign language interpreters. Is it everyday life for them? Is it part of Deaf culture? How are they being known to other parties in an interpreted situation, as for instance, their workplace?
