Why did you choose to study this master’s course at The University of Manchester?

To improve my professional prospects and develop new skills necessary in the rapidly developing field of web GIS.

How much time do you spend in classes and private study?

I spend much more time in private study. I’d say 85% to 15%.

What has been the highlight of your course so far?

The use of various programming languages (Python, JavaScript, R).

What has been the most challenging part of your course so far?

It also involves programming languages. It was challenging to develop solutions in the areas where I previously had little experience.

Have you undertaken any fieldwork as part of your course?

No.

How would you describe your student experience so far?

I have a good student experience overall. However, I know that it can be better, as I had more exciting student life when I studied in Beijing.

What is the best thing about living and studying in the city of Manchester?

Exploring the city of Manchester and the opportunities it provides.

What kind of accommodation do you live in?

I live outside the campus in a flat.

Do you have any tips for future students?

If you want to have a fun student life you have to take the initiative. Try to explore different events that are planned on the campus, join one of many societies, organise some student parties, etc.

What are your plans for life after graduation?

I want to find a job in the UK. I know first-hand that having some real world working experience will teach me more than any course at the university.
