The year is coming to its end and the university will soon close for a well-deserved Christmas break. But don’t worry – we’re not leaving you alone. The following blog post will outline available support during the Christmas closure including library opening times, how to contact us, and a few festive activities to do if you’re staying in Manchester over the Christmas break.
Student Support over the Christmas Break
Whether you’re traveling home or staying on campus, head over to this page to find out more about what support is available during the Christmas Break.
To name just a few, Campus Support and Security remain available during the break and can be contacted on 0161 306 9966. You’ll also find this number printed on the back of your student card. Whether you need to make a report or get home safely, they should be your first port of call.
For mental health and wellbeing advice, Health Assured offers a 24-hour mental health support phone line and app, which means there is always someone available to offer support when you need it – whatever the time of day or night. This phone line is available in 240 languages via a translation service.
If you’re staying in halls, ResLife Advisors are here to help you. And in case of any IT issues, the IT team can be reached 24/7 via 0161 306 5544.

Christmas always seem to come with a lot of pressure. For some, it’s the event of the year but for others, it’s just another day. And both is okay. Think about what Christmas means to you but don’t let anyone pressure you into thinking it’s more than it actually is – an opportunity, an invitation to celebrate, or not to celebrate. You are the one making the decision.

Library Opening Times
Most Library sites will be closed from Friday, 23 December 2022 until Monday, 2 January 2023, but Alan Gilbert Learning Commons remain open with limited opening times and closed for bank holidays. Find out more about Library Opening times here.

And finally, the end of the year is a perfect time for reflection – including reflecting on Semester 1 modules. The Couse Unit Survey opened for feedback on the 14th of December and will stay open until the 15th of January 2023. Take this opportunity to tell your lecturers and tutors what you liked about the lectures and what you’d do differently. This is extremely valuable and we want to hear from you!
