QSW article 2: ‘Assessing deaf parents in safeguarding and child protection processes: Deaf experts’ experience of routine social work practice’

In relation to Rosemary Oram’s PhD, a publication recently published is now available in the Qualitative Social Work (QSW) journal

Following on from Rosemary’s earlier QSW paper drawing on findings from her PhD, this peer-reviewed free-access online article shares further experiences and perspectives from seven Deaf-specialist professionals working in safeguarding/child protection with Deaf BSL parents living in England. Following the Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) approach, she has conducted semi-structured interviews with these participants in BSL and now reports data focussing on the ‘Parenting Assessment Process’, examining linguistic-cultural aspects of practice between parents, social workers and other professionals.
