To mark Deaf Awareness Week, we’re proud to share a video that highlights what Deaf Awareness looks like in research from SORD. 

The researchers featured in this video challenge the call for action: Involving deaf people from the very beginning of research projects, using British Sign Language (BSL) as a starting point for methodology for BSL users, and ensuring that deaf-led perspectives shape the entire process. 

This video is a call to move beyond performative awareness. It invites researchers, institutions and policymakers to reimagine inclusion in research – not as an afterthought but as a foundation.
