This post considers the role of media representation in shaping political discourse about refugees and asylum seekers in the UK. Our main question concerns how media representations of refugees and asylum seekers have potentially increased the ‘precarity’ (Ramsay, 2020) of individuals trying to migrate to Britain in the wake of the European migrant crisis of 2015 as well as the Brexit campaign of 2016.
