What are we trying to do?

Researchers from The University of Manchester are working alongside Cambridgeshire County Council to conduct a wide-scale evaluation of their fall prevention services.

The evaluation aims to understand the lived experience and patient perspective of the local community fall prevention pathway in Cambridgeshire, alongside gaining an older adults’ perspective towards engaging in strength and balance exercise interventions in later life.

The project will also include speaking to general practitioners to gain their perspective of the role they have in fall prevention across the local area.

Why is this important?

By evaluating services across Cambridgeshire, this will ensure that people who have fallen have timely access to services, evidence-based interventions, and opportunities that will support a reduction in the risk and rate of falls and injurious falls.

How are we doing it?

We are delivering a mixed-methods evaluation, using a range of data collection methods to support the effective delivery of falls prevention services and interventions in Cambridgeshire. This will enable services to better meet the needs of older adults and improve their quality of life and health outcomes.

Who are we working with?

We are working alongside Cambridgeshire County Council and their local health, social care, voluntary and community sector services along the fall prevention pathway.

Who is funding this?

This evaluation is funded by Cambridgeshire County Council.
