Awards

It is important as part of our practice to acknowledge some of the brilliant and innovative work being done in the School, here we provide details of awards that are available relating to work undertaken in the areas of Teaching and Learning.

If you are aware of an award or accomplishment which you think should be highlighted alongside the below then please email sosswebteam@manchester.ac.uk.

Distinguished Achievement Awards

These awards recognise achievement in a number of areas and, in teaching and learning, include Teacher of the Year, Undergraduate Student of the Year, and PGT Student of the Year.

The Teacher of the Year recognises an individual whose teaching during the past year has been outstanding, has demonstrated an ability to communicate effectively, and motivated students whilst showing a commitment to innovation and excellence in teaching.

Schools can submit one nomination each for Teacher of the Year and one or two nominations for Undergraduate Student of the Year.

To find out more, please contact Susan Rowe.

Humanities Innovation in Teaching Scheme (HiT)

This scheme supports innovation in teaching practice and/or supporting the student experience.

Colleagues can submit expressions of interest to secure complimentary resource and/or funding from the Faculty Teaching, Learning and Student Experience Team to undertake new projects around three core priorities.

  1. The development of distance learning with a focus on developing online CPD.
  2. Innovation in teaching and assessment including the development of student digital skills.
  3. Initiatives that enhance student experience.

Support from TLSE may be through initial consultation/research to start a project, project management support, curriculum development support or technology-enhanced learning.

Projects should provide a strong communication strategy and clearly demonstrate the intended impact.

The deadline for applications is in late summer.
