Oral histories
We conducted oral history interviews with 12 older people between the ages of 66 and 90.
While we began with a focus on experiences of disaster, the conversations turned into life histories. It became clear that resilience in the face of disasters cannot be separated from the resilience one learns across the span of a lifetime.
“I was 12 years old when my mother died… Despite all the things that have happened in my life, I always think that tomorrow will be better, that there is hope.”
