Many congratulations to our own Rachel Gibson, who has received the Best Book Award by the Information Technology and Politics Section of APSA (the American Political Science Association).

After careful review, the panel decided that Rachel’s work,  ‘When the Nerds Go Marching in: How Digital Technology Moved from the Margins to the Mainstream of Political Campaigns (Oxford University Press), is the best book published in the previous calendar year. This book is available as hardback, paperback and Kindle eBook. It is about the effects of technology on campaigning and electoral participation. It is part of the Oxford Studies in Digital Politics series, and it provides cross-national comparative research on citizen campaigning and technology in elections. It offers an in-depth look into how citizen campaigning may revitalize public faith in democracy and the political process, but also how it may create a new political elite.

The award will be given at the Information Technology and Politics business meeting at the 2021 APSA annual conference.
