Preparations are well on their way at DiCED to study the 2022 French presidential and legislative election campaigns.

The first round of the 2022 French presidential election will take place on the 10th of April 2022. If no candidate obtains a majority of votes, then there will be a second round (a run-off) on the 24th of April 2022.The first round of the French legislative election is held on the 12th of June 2022. Here too, there will be a second round, but this will be the case if no candidate reaches an absolute majority of valid votes and a vote total of 25% of the registered electorate. This second round of the legislative election will then be held shortly after the first round, on the 19th of June 2022.

At DiCED, we are adapting our measures and instruments for studying the impact of digital technology on the organization, implementation and impact of the French 2022 election campaigns. We will also study these elections campaigns from a comparative perspective, in comparison to the 2020 US presidential election campaign and the 2021 German Federal election. We are grateful to Fabienne Greffet, Karolina Koc-Michalska, and Mickael Temporão, our country experts, for helping us in this endeavour.

Fabienne Greffet is a senior lecturer in political science at ISAM-IAE (Nancy), a researcher at IRENEE (Nancy) and Pacte (CNRS, Grenoble). Karolina Koc-Michalska is a Professor at the Department of Communication & Culture at Audencia Business School (France) and Associate Researcher at Sciences-Po Paris. Finally, Mickael Temporão is an associate professor in Computational Social Science at Sciences-Po Bordeaux.
