Postdoctoral Research Assistant Position – Digital Campaigning in the Polish 2023 Parliamentary Elections (March 2023- February 2024)

Applications are invited for a 12 mos (0.6 FTE) part-time Postdoctoral RA to join an international research team examining Digital Campaigning in Electoral Democracies (DiCED). DiCED is European Commission ERC funded project led by Professor Rachel Gibson, and based in the Department of Politics and Cathie Marsh Institute for Social Research at the University of Manchester.

The position will focus on developing, coordinating and managing the qualitative and quantitative data collection for the 2023 Polish national election. Key duties include

• adaptation and conversion of DiCED data collection tools for the Polish context (e.g. online opinion surveys, interview documents and surveys of campaign practitioners)
• generation of data dictionaries and key words / search terms for collecting and analysis of individual and aggregate social media data
• providing assistance in the coordination, and conducting of post-election interviews and surveys with country expert (Prof Karolina Koc-Michalska) of Polish digital campaign experts and party staff, and the production of related codebooks and related datasets

Excellent Polish language skills (written and verbal) and a good knowledge of the Polish election context are essential requirements for the post. The Research Associate will work closely with the PI and other members of the team based at the University of Manchester as well as Prof. Koc Michalska, and will have the opportunity to participate in the co-production and presentation of research outputs.
