Quarterly Data Review

Just before the Early May bank holiday, the 3 musketeers of DiCED – Rachel, Peter and Esmeralda – met to review data: the data to be accessed, obtained and analysed by DICED, according to the research questions guiding our project. These research questions are:

  1. What is data-driven campaigning (DDC) and can it be seen as forming a new and distinct era of electioneering in conceptual and historical terms?
  2. Where is DDC emerging? Both in party and national or country level terms and what are the organisational and systemic-level factors appear to be most closely associated with its development?
  3. What are the key effects (positive and negative) of the use of these DDC at the individual (micro), party (meso) and systemic (macro) level?
  4. What are the policy and regulatory implications of DDC? What does it require from citizens in terms of Digital Information Literacy skills and how might those be delivered?

To answer these research questions, we will be analysing the data we collect in the US, UK, Germany, France and Poland, between 2020 and the beginning of 2025, and we will also create resources for other researchers and projects to use. Please stay tuned and check our Resources page occasionally for new content!
